Biography

Stijn De Vuyst is an associate professor in the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Product Design at Ghent University. His expertise lies in operations research, with a focus on stochastic modeling, stochastic optimization, simulation, queueing theory, and statistical techniques. He also specializes in scheduling, applications design, planning, and performance evaluation of production systems, particularly within healthcare systems. Stijn has been involved with the educational board of the Master program in Industrial Engineering Operations Research at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture since 2012, teaching courses on stochastic simulation, operations research, and quality engineering in industrial statistics. In 2022, he became the holder of the Actemium chair in Sustainable Energy, concentrating on energy-aware planning and optimization.
