Dr. Stjepan Picek

Biography

Stjepan Picek is an associate professor in the Digital Security group at Radboud University. His research focuses on the intersection of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, particularly in the implementation of attacks such as side-channel analysis and fault injection within the security of machine learning systems. He also conducts research in the domain of evolutionary algorithms, which are biological-inspired problem-solving techniques that span various applications in cryptography. His work includes evolving hash functions and creating new block ciphers to enhance the security of devices against adversaries. Picek's contributions have been recognized through multiple publications and grants, showcasing the growing interest in evolutionary computation and machine learning within the cybersecurity realm. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Bergen, Norway, from January 2025 to December 2028.
