Dr. Stone Macbeth

Biography

Stone MacBeth is a dedicated lecturer at Columbia Law School and a staff attorney in the Criminal Defense Practice at the Bronx Defenders. His work primarily focuses on representing individuals charged with crimes throughout various phases of their cases. Prior to joining the Bronx Defenders in 2023, Stone began his career as a public defender in the trial division of the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, where he represented both juveniles and adults accused of serious felonies. Throughout his career as a defender, he has had the opportunity to engage in cases involving parole, compassionate release, civil court, and family court. Currently, he also dedicates his time to coaching national mock trial teams, such as the Benedict Morelli Trial Team at Cardozo Law, and teaching trial skills to summer law clerks at the Bronx Defenders. Stone obtained his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law, where he practiced as a student attorney in the Criminal and Immigration Defense Clinic and served as a team leader for the Korey Wise Innocence Project. Additionally, he has extensive experience in civil rights through his internship with the ACLU's national Criminal Law Reform Project. Stone also holds a B.A. from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
