Biography

Stuart Davis is a College Associate Professor of Spanish at Girton College, University of Cambridge. He has served as an Affiliated Lecturer in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese since 2003. Davis currently holds the position of Deputy Senior Tutor (Teaching and Learning) at Girton College. He completed his BA, MPhil, and PhD degrees at the University of Birmingham, and has a rich academic background including studies at local comprehensive schools and Worcester Sixth Form College. In 2018, he was awarded the Pilkington Prize for Excellence in Teaching by the University of Cambridge, and in 2025, he received a Senior Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy in recognition of his leadership in teaching and education. His teaching interests include supervising doctoral research in contemporary Spanish literature and film culture, and he is the co-ordinator for the final year Comparative Studies paper CS5 'The Body'. Davis's research encompasses memory, emotions, and representations of gender and sexuality in Hispanic literature and visual cultures. He has authored and co-edited several works, including 'Writing Heritage Contemporary Spain: Imaginary Museum Literature' and 'Reading Iberia: Theory/History/Identity'.
