Biography

Stuart Griffin joined King’s College London in 1999 and was promoted to Reader in Strategic Studies in 2015. He previously served as Head of the Defence Studies Department and Dean of Academic Studies at the Joint Services Command and Staff College, Defence Academy UK from 2012 to 2014. His primary research areas include the evolution of joint combined warfare, operational art, and military innovation theory. He has written extensively on the theory and practice of international peacekeeping and stabilization and has been heavily involved in UK defence diplomacy outreach, particularly in efforts to support UN peacekeeping training. Griffin’s recent work includes the article,'Military Innovation Studies: Multidisciplinary Lacking Discipline?' published in the Journal of Strategic Studies in 2016. He is currently completing an article titled 'Future Operational Art and the Operational Level of War' to be published in 2018. Griffin is also engaged in a series of publications and collaborative research projects revolving around military innovation.
