Stuart S. Rosenthal comes to the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business from Syracuse University, where he served as a Maxwell Advisory Board Professor and a senior research associate at the university's Center for Policy Research. Rosenthal's work encompasses various aspects of economics related to cities, housing, mortgage markets, local tax policy, spatial patterns of productivity, and land use costs. Rosenthal's expertise has significantly advanced discussions around real estate markets, allowing him to shape the future of real estate education at Cornell. He is a Fellow of the Homer Hoyt School of Advanced Studies in Real Estate and Urban Economics, as well as the Regional Science Association International (RSAI). He has served on the council of the Urban Economics Association and as an executive officer of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA) from 2013-2015. From 2017-2021, Rosenthal served as chair of the Syracuse Department of Economics. In 2013, he received the RSAI Walter Isard Award for Scholarly Achievement. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MA from the same university, and a BA from Bowdoin College.
