Biography

Stuart Alan Weinzimer earned his bachelor's degree in Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics from Yale University and his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed residency training in pediatrics and fellowship training in pediatric endocrinology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He joined the faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania before returning to Yale in 2002, where he focuses on research in continuous glucose sensors and insulin pumps, specifically in the development of the artificial pancreas. He is the principal investigator on several NIH and JDRF funded projects addressing automated insulin delivery systems tailored for young patients and examining diabetes effects on the developing brain. His accolades include awards for outstanding clinical care and research such as the Mae Gailani Award and the JDRF Dream Award. Dr. Weinzimer is involved in numerous clinical trials and actively contributes to professional committees, including the American Diabetes Association and the Endocrine Society.
