Biography

Subhanjoy Mohanty is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Imperial College London. He is also a Visiting Professor at the School of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the National Institute of Science Education and Research in India. His research focuses on planet formation in protoplanetary discs, star formation processes in accretion discs, and the evolution of stellar planetary atmospheres. He studies stellar activity and angular momentum evolution, with interests in exobiology. His research methods combine theoretical approaches with magneto-hydrodynamical numerical simulations and observations across a wide range of wavelengths from ultraviolet to radio. Prior to his current position, he was a NASA Spitzer Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. He obtained his PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of California, Berkeley, and his Bachelor's degree in Astronomy from Harvard University. In addition to his academic pursuits, he is involved in climate change initiatives in India and enjoys hobbies such as natural history, entomology, hiking, and linguistics.
