Biography

Subhrajit Guhathakurta, commonly known as Subhro, is the Director of the MSUA Program and the Harry West Professor at the School of City and Regional Planning at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He also serves as the Director of the Center for Urban Resilience Analytics. Since joining Georgia Tech in 2011, he has held various leadership roles, including the directorship of the Center for Geographic Information Systems, which was later renamed to the Center for Spatial Planning Analytics and Visualization. Guhathakurta previously worked as the Associate Director at the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning at Arizona State University, where he was one of the founding faculty members of the School of Sustainability. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Urban Modeling Simulation Lab at ASU. An accomplished author, he has written six books and over 75 scientific papers. His editorial contributions include works such as 'Integrated Urban Environmental Models' and 'Visualizing Sustainable Planning'. He has received the Mercator Professorship from DFG, enabling him to conduct research on visualizing unstructured data in Germany. Additionally, Guhathakurta has held visiting appointments at various prestigious institutions worldwide, contributing his expertise in urban planning and geographic information science.
