Dr. Sudeshna Basugupta

Biography

Sudeshna Basugupta is an Associate Professor (Teaching) at University College London, specializing in Sustainable Resource Management within the Department of Chemical Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in Geology from 1999 to 2004, where her thesis focused on nitrogen noble gases in carbonatites in India, conducted at the Physical Research Laboratory in Ahmedabad. Basugupta completed her Master of Science in Applied Geology with first-class distinction from Jadavpur University in Kolkata, and a Bachelor of Science in Geology, also with first-class honors distinction. In her academic career at UCL, she has transitioned from post-doctoral roles in Earth Sciences to various lecturing positions and currently leads courses in chemical engineering. Her professional certifications include Chartered Engineer and Chartered Scientist status from reputable institutions, highlighting her commitment to the field. Basugupta has a strong research interest in sustainable development goals including sustainable cities, climate action, and the relationship between life and water. She is deeply engaged in promoting understanding and innovative solutions in environmental resource management.
