Biography

Professor Dame Sue Black is an anatomist and forensic anthropologist, holding several honorary titles including fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the British Academy. She was awarded the OBE for her services to war crimes investigations in Kosovo and was later promoted to Dame Commander for her services in forensic anthropology. In 2021, she became a crossbench peer, taking the title Baroness Black Strome. Professor Black has received numerous accolades, including the Lucy Mair medal for humanitarian endeavors and the anatomical gold medal for outstanding achievements. Her research focuses on human identification aspects, primarily forensic cases involving perpetrators of child sexual abuse.
