Biography

Sue Dopson is the Rhodes Trust Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Deputy Dean of People Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. She is also a Fellow of Green Templeton College. Sue holds a BSc in Sociology, an MSc in Sociology with special reference to medicine, an MA from Oxford, and a PhD studying the introduction of general management into the NHS. She is a fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. Sue's research focuses on leadership, innovation, and change, having led numerous research projects in both public and private sector organisations. Her work evaluates interventions designed to improve clinical effectiveness, explores evidence-based medicine, investigates the changing role of healthcare assistants in the NHS workforce, and examines the leadership experiences of women and minorities in academia. As a researcher, Sue’s studies have influenced government policy regarding the healthcare sector, particularly concerning the training and responsibilities of Healthcare Assistants (HCAs). In addition, Sue serves as an Adviser to the National Institute for Health Care Excellence (NICE) and is a Non-Executive Director at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. She is heavily engaged in teaching, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses including MBA and EMBA programs, and she is the Academic Director of the Oxford Strategic Leader Programme. Sue is a strong advocate for providing executives with space to examine their leadership challenges and is heavily involved in coaching and developing leadership performance.
