Sue lived and worked in rural landscapes across four states and six bioregions of eastern Australia as a plant ecologist. Her training and research are focused on the interaction between natural ecosystems and human land use strategies for co-existence. Sue worked for 20 years as a Senior Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO, collaborating with colleagues to develop key themes in landscape ecology and sustainable land use. As a foundation partner in the Mulligans Flat - Goorooyarroo Woodland Experiment, she is engaged in a 1,400 ha restoration project and prioritizes field-based work focused on effective management and habitat restoration. Currently, she is an Honorary Professor at the Fenner School of the Australian National University and continues to bridge scientific publishing with broader audiences.
