Dr. Sue Teo

Biography

Sue Anne Teo is a researcher at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) and currently serves as a Human Rights Technology Fellow at the Carr-Ryan Center, Harvard Kennedy School. Her work primarily focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence and human rights, exploring the challenges posed to normative foundations of human rights. Teo's extensive experience includes collaboration on EU Horizon projects and leading large-scale research initiatives related to human rights capacity development in Myanmar and China over the past eight years. She holds an LLM from the University of Cambridge, an MSc in Human Rights from the London School of Economics, and a First Class Honours LLB from the University of London. Throughout her career, Teo has contributed to the United Nations, serving in peacekeeping missions and working with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Her academic credentials and professional background position her as a key expert in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights. She is actively involved in research activities, having recently signed a book contract with Oxford University Press for a monograph on AI's challenges to human rights.
