Biography

Sugata Roychowdhury is the DeWitt W. Buchanan Jr. Professor of Accounting Information & Management at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. His research primarily focuses on how managerial incentives influence reporting disclosure choices and operational investment decisions. Recently, he has examined the impact of corporate courts and regulatory guidelines on managerial reporting choices and the subsequent effects on business decisions. His work has been published in several leading academic journals, including the Journal of Accounting & Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Accounting Review, and Review of Accounting Studies. He is also a member of the editorial review board of the Journal of Accounting & Economics, and serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Accounting Research. Roychowdhury joined Kellogg's Accounting Information Management group in the summer of 2020, where he currently oversees graduate studies for the Accounting Information Management MBA program and coordinates the Financial Accounting core curriculum. He has taught various courses, including Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting, to different student cohorts, and has received the Chair's Core Course Teaching Award for the 2023-2024 academic year.
