Dr. Sukhi Bansal

Biography

Sukhi Bansal is a Professor of Chemical Biology at King’s College London, where he leads the Pharmacy department and is a key figure in educational leadership. He began his academic journey in the Chemistry Department at the University of Strathclyde, where he earned his PhD in medicinal chemistry focused on GABA. His postdoctoral training involved studying muscarinic receptors and biochemistry at the MRC National Institute for Medical Research in London. Later, he joined the MRC Laboratory for Medical Research in Cambridge, specializing in peptide chemistry, before leading the peptide group at KCL since 1989. His research aims to develop analytical methodologies, particularly in mass spectrometry, for the measurement of hepcidin, an important biomarker for iron metabolism. Sukhi's work has contributed significantly to clinical trials in both industry and academia, focusing on improving the understanding of hepcidin measurement among various patient populations.
