Biography

Sukhwant Sagar is a Sessional Assistant Professor in the Teaching Stream at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at York University. He earned his PhD in Information Technology from the University of Salford (UK), MSc in Software Systems from BITS Pilani (India), and B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Punjab Technical University (India). With 22 years of experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in Computer Science and Software Engineering, Sukhwant brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role. He designs and delivers courses in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity. Before joining York University, he taught at Durham College and served as Program Coordinator for the Cybersecurity Graduate Certificate program. Additionally, he taught as a sessional professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Ontario Tech University. Sukhwant is actively involved in academic-industry initiatives and serves as a reviewer for Mitacs Accelerate research proposals. He has been invited to participate in discussions addressing the cybersecurity talent shortage in Canada and has served in advisory roles for various conferences. Sukhwant is committed to continuous professional development and holds multiple certifications, including AWS Certified Cloud Developer Associate and Certified Ethical Hacker. He remains current with advancements in the field through memberships in professional organizations such as ACM, IEEE, ISTE, and CSI.
