Biography

Sumi Siddiqua completed her PhD in Geo-environmental Engineering at Cardiff University, focusing on developing thermal-hydraulic-mechanical models for nuclear waste repository design. She held a post-doctoral fellowship at the Geotechnical Laboratory of the University of Manitoba and is the lead researcher at the CFI-funded Advanced Geomaterials Testing Lab at the Okanagan campus of the University of British Columbia. Dr. Siddiqua's research encompasses nuclear waste repositories, energy pipelines, chemical stabilization of road subgrade materials, and the interaction of soil with industry by-products. She is actively involved in the Canadian Geotechnical Society, serving as the Chair of the Society’s Education Committee, and is a strong proponent of Women in Science and Engineering at UBC Okanagan.
