Biography

Sumit Roy has been a faculty member in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Washington since 1998. He is currently the CoE/ECE Integrated Systems Professor and directs the Fundamentals Networking Laboratory. His research interests encompass a broad spectrum of wireless communication and sensor network systems, with a particular focus on the latest advancements in 4G and emerging 5G technologies. Roy is an influential member of the IEEE Communications Society, contributing to technical conference program committees and serving as a Distinguished Lecturer on multiple occasions. He was elevated to IEEE Fellow in 2007 for his significant contributions to multi-user communications theory and cross-layer design in wireless networking standards. His citations include numerous publications at national and international conferences, and he has been a frequent speaker at 5G forums.
