Dr. Summer Lee

Biography

Summer Kim Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at UCLA, specializing in feminist theory, queer theory, performance studies, critical race and ethnic studies, and Asian American literature and culture. Her forthcoming book, 'Spoiled: Asian American Hostility Damage Repair,' is set to be published by Duke University Press. Lee's published works can be found in reputable journals such as ASAP/Journal, Los Angeles Review of Books, Nation, New York Magazine, Post45, Social Text, and Women & Performance: a journal of feminist theory. Before joining the UCLA English faculty in 2020, Lee was a Mellon Faculty Fellow in English at Dartmouth College and a Guarini Dean's Postdoctoral Fellow in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Dartmouth College. She has contributed to edited volumes and held editorial positions, including guest co-editor for a special issue on feminist relationality in Asian American studies in Women & Performance. Lee has authored several notable articles in the field, exploring topics related to feminist meetings, contemporary popular music, and Asian American critique.
