Biography

Summer Wood is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of New Brunswick. She earned her PhD from New York University, where she specialized in medical legal anthropology, as well as a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan, focusing on global health with an emphasis on maternal and child health. With more than 10 years of research experience, Summer has been involved in a variety of research projects across Tanzania, Australia, and the United States. Her PhD research, which received funding from the National Science Foundation and the Wenner-Gren Foundation, focused on birth registration, health systems, and human rights issues in Tanzania. Summer is passionate about mentoring students in their research projects and is particularly interested in topics related to health, gender, families, law, and social justice in the social sciences.
