Biography

Sun Yong Kim is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his PhD in Finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, which he is set to complete in June 2024. Prior to his doctoral studies, he earned both his Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Finance and Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), UK, and the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, respectively. His research focuses on the global ramifications of fiscal policy, investigating its impact on international macro-finance phenomena, such as exorbitant privilege, countercyclical dynamics of the dollar, asset prices in the global financial cycle, and wealth distribution. He has presented his research at leading academic conferences in finance and economics, including the Western Finance Association (WFA) and European Finance Association (EFA). Sun Yong has received multiple accolades, including the Brattle Group WFA PhD Candidate Award for Outstanding Research and the EFA Engelbert-Dockner Memorial Prize for Young Researchers.
