Biography

Suncica Travan received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Zagreb, School of Dental Medicine in Croatia. She completed a postdoctoral certificate in Periodontics and earned her Master of Science (MS) degree in 2008 from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Travan has been a full-time lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry since 2009 and holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor. As a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, her specialties include implant dentistry, clinical periodontics, and soft and hard tissue regeneration. Travan is involved in active clinical research focusing on bone and soft tissue augmentation and novel techniques in implant and periodontal therapy. She has published several scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals across the fields of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. Her accolades include the Nevins BioHorizons Fellowship awarded in 2017 and the Outstanding Clinical Faculty Award in 2010 from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation. Additionally, Travan is the current president of the Russell W. Bunting Periodontal Society and serves as the associate program director of the International Team for Implantology Scholarship Center at the University of Michigan. Outside her professional pursuits, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
