Born and raised in West London, Sundeep Lidher studied Modern History at the University of St Andrews and pursued Modern South Asian History at the University of Oxford. He completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2021, exploring the evolution of British citizenship and immigration policy from 1945 to 1962. Sundeep has been active in public history initiatives aimed at increasing the visibility of British migration histories and has co-led the award-winning education project 'Our Migration Story'. He is a co-investigator on an ESRC-funded project examining racial-ethnic inequalities and has contributed significantly to the conversation around diversity in the history curriculum. His research interests include mobility control, subjecthood and citizenship, racism, and migration in Britain. Sundeep is also a founding member of the History Law research hub at King’s and has collaborated with various institutions on projects relating to teaching history in schools.
