Dr. Sundes Kazmir

Biography

Dr. Sundes Kazmir is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine, where she focuses on child abuse pediatrics. She earned her MD from New York University and completed her pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, followed by a fellowship in child abuse pediatrics at Northwestern University. Dr. Kazmir is board-certified in General Pediatrics and Child Abuse Pediatrics, with research interests that include primary prevention of child physical abuse and support for caregivers experiencing intimate partner violence. She is dedicated to improving communication around abuse and neglect cases and actively collaborates with social workers and law enforcement to address these issues. As a member of the Pediatric Ethics Committee and Associate Clerkship Director for the Pediatric Clerkship at Yale, she is recognized for her contributions to medical education with multiple teaching awards. Dr. Kazmir emphasizes the critical role that parents play in their child's recovery from trauma and aims to provide supportive resources to families in distress.
