Sune Lehmann is a Professor in Networks and Complexity Science at DTU Compute, Technical University of Denmark and at the Social Data Science Center at the University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on the quantitative understanding of social systems using massive data sets. With a background in physics, his work integrates approaches from physics, machine learning, and statistical analysis to model complex networks. Lehmann has made significant contributions to topics such as human mobility, sleep patterns, academic performance, complex contagion, epidemic spreading, and Twitter behavior. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he was a member of the task force established by the Danish government to model the disease's spread and also advised on actions regarding major technology companies. He has previously worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Quantitative Social Science at Harvard University and the Center for Complex Network Research at Northeastern University. He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics from the Niels Bohr Institute, and his Ph.D. in Complex Networks from the Technical University of Denmark in 2007.
