Biography

Sune Tjalfe Thomsen is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in Forest Bioressources. With over 10 years of experience in bioenergy research, he has developed a broad scientific and industrial professional network. His research interests lie primarily in applied biorefinery research, focusing on biomass densification, pretreatment, enzymatic modification/saccharification, and fermentation for efficient industrial conversion methods such as second-generation ethanol and biogas production. His work also emphasizes the importance of understanding the complexity of plant and algae cell walls at a basic and molecular level, which is crucial for innovating effective utilization methods. He is well-equipped with advanced biomass laboratories in Denmark, utilizing tools such as the ASE 350 accelerated solvent extractor and high-throughput HPLC platforms for his research. He has collaborated extensively on various projects in Europe, Asia, and America, contributing to advancing knowledge in biofuel production and related fields.
