Dr. Sung Kim

Biography

Sung Hui Kim is a Professor of Law at UCLA School of Law, where he has been a faculty member since 2010. He serves as Vice Dean for Curricular Academic Affairs from 2023 to 2025. His teaching portfolio includes courses in Business Associations, Contracts, Professional Responsibility, Securities Regulation, and seminars on psychology in modern legal practices and legal ethics. Professor Kim's research interests encompass a wide array of topics, including the role of in-house counsel, corporate compliance, cognitive science's impact on the legal profession, fiduciary law, and issues surrounding public and private corruption, among others. He has co-authored several significant texts, such as "Professional Responsibility: Contemporary Approach" and "Fiduciary Government," both published by leading academic presses. His scholarly work has appeared in prestigious journals including the Capital Markets Law Journal, Cornell Law Review, and Duke Law Journal. Before joining UCLA, he practiced as a transactional lawyer and served as general counsel for Red Bull North America, Inc. Kim holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, graduating cum laude, and two degrees from Emory University, where he graduated summa cum laude. His academic contributions and expertise in legal ethics have made him a prominent voice in discussions surrounding gatekeeping in law and the fiduciary obligations of professionals.
