Biography

Sunil Golwala is a Professor of Physics at the Kavli Nanoscience Institute, California Institute of Technology. He has been with Caltech since 2003, where he started as an Assistant Professor and subsequently became an Associate Professor in 2010, followed by promotion to Professor in the same year. Golwala is also the Deputy Executive Officer for Astrophysics, a role he has held since 2019, and he serves as the Director of the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory from 2013 to 2024. He completed his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Chicago in 1993 and obtained a Master of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley in 1995. Golwala earned his Ph.D. in 2000.
