Biography

Supriya Chowdhury is a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and a dual-trained Anaesthetist and Specialist Pain Medicine Physician. She is a working clinician-researcher with a significant involvement in teaching and research in the areas of acute and chronic pain management. Since 2013, she has been serving as the Director of the Acute Pain Department of Anaesthesia at Liverpool Hospital and also works as an Interventional Pain Specialist in the Department of Chronic Pain. Her research interests include the factors involved in the development of persistent postoperative opioid use in elective surgery and the role of bedside teaching in improving the understanding of pain in medical education. She holds a Master of Medicine in Pain Management from the University of Sydney, as well as an MBBS with Honours from the same institution, and is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA).
