Biography

Suren Bagratuni is a distinguished cellist and Professor of Cello at Michigan State University College of Music, where he also serves as the Chair of the String Area. Born in Yerevan, Armenia, he began his musical education at the age of seven and won the silver medal at the 1986 International Tchaikovsky Competition. After completing his studies at the Moscow Conservatory and the New England Conservatory of Music, he embarked on an international career as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. His recorded works have received critical acclaim and broadcast on major media outlets like CBC Radio Canada and NPR. In addition to his solo performances, he is a member of the Trio Nobilis and the artistic director of a cello music festival.
