Biography

Suren Gomtsyan joined the LSE Law School in September 2023 as an Assistant Professor. His research and teaching focus on corporate law, corporate governance, and private ordering. Prior to joining LSE, Suren was a lecturer and associate professor at the University of Leeds School of Law from 2016 to 2023. He has also served as a visiting research fellow at Fordham University School of Law in New York in 2014 and gained practical experience in legal practice focused on corporate law matters, particularly M&A transactions, from 2011 to 2012. Suren holds a PhD in Law awarded in 2016 and an LLM Research Master's in Law obtained in 2012, cum laude, from Tilburg University in the Netherlands. His research interests include corporate law, economics, and empirical legal studies, with specific attention on the stewardship role of institutional investors and alternative modes of governance. Suren is associated with the Amsterdam Center for Law & Economics as a Research Associate, and he was a visiting scholar in 2022. He has received several prizes and grants for his work, including the 'Research Talent' Grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research from 2013 to 2016 and awards from various legal societies. Suren's works have been published in prestigious journals and he actively engages in teaching and public discourse on issues related to corporate governance and law.
