Dr. Suresh Agarwal

Biography

Suresh Kumar Agarwal is a Professor of Surgery and Chief of Trauma Critical Care Surgery at Duke University. He has extensive training in surgery with a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care from the University of Wisconsin and a Trauma Fellowship from Hartford Hospital. He earned his M.D. and B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Agarwal’s current research interests focus on critical care, trauma management, and recovery from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). He has received multiple grants for his research initiatives, including studies on extracellular vesicles in ARDS patients and randomized controlled trials for transitional care interventions for traumatic brain injury patients. His work has been recognized by institutions such as the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense, reflecting a commitment to advancing surgical techniques and patient recovery protocols in trauma care.
