Dr. Surya Tokdar

Biography

Surya Tapas Tokdar is a Professor in the Department of Statistical Science at Duke University, where he has been a faculty member since 2022. He is currently also serving as the Associate Chair of the Department. His research primarily focuses on the interface between statistical methodology and neuroscience, particularly exploring how brain cells communicate information through various signaling mechanisms. Tokdar has held a position as a Faculty Network Member at the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences since 2014. His work often involves complex statistical analyses, leading to insightful findings in cognitive neuroscience. Tokdar has participated in important research projects funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and the National Science Foundation, contributing significantly to advancements in understanding neural coding and information processing in the brain.
