Dr. Susan Brown

Biography

Susan Brown is a Professor at the University of Guelph with expertise in digital humanities, critical infrastructure studies, Victorian writing, women's writing, and feminist theory. She holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Collaborative Digital Scholarship and sponsors the Humanities Interdisciplinary Collaboration Lab (THINC Lab), which promotes intersectional feminist digital scholarship. Brown has been integral to the Orlando Project, one of the longest-running digital humanities endeavors, which published a literary historical textbase with Cambridge University Press in 2006. Her research attracts funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, supporting initiatives for diverse, inclusive knowledge production and sustainable access to cultural scholarship. She directs the Canadian Writing Research Collaboratory (CWRC) and co-founded the Culture Technology Studies major. With numerous publications and collaborative works, Brown's teaching includes Victorian poetry and feminist literary history. She also actively engages in university administration and committees, influencing digital scholarship training for graduate students.
