Dr. Susan Brown

Biography

Susan Brown is a prominent figure in the field of digital humanities, specializing in critical infrastructure studies, Victorian writing, women's writing, and feminist theory. She holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Collaborative Digital Scholarship and directs the Humanities Interdisciplinary Collaboration Lab (THINC Lab) at the University of Guelph. Her research is recognized for its innovative approach to intersectional feminist digital scholarship and its contributions to the Orlando Project, a major ongoing interdisciplinary collaborative research endeavor focused on feminist literary scholarship. Brown has received various research grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and has co-authored significant works, exploring topics such as metadata ontologies and linked open cultural data. Additionally, she has taught a diverse range of topics at the graduate level, supervised many MA and PhD students, and has held numerous administrative roles within the university. Brown is also actively involved in various scholarly boards and has received accolades for her teaching excellence.
