Biography

Dr. Susan L. Cohn is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago. With a devoted career centered on caring for children with neuroblastoma, she conducts clinical and translational research focused on understanding the biological underpinnings of high-risk neuroblastoma and identifying new therapeutic targets. Dr. Cohn has led efforts to develop risk classification algorithms for the International Neuroblastoma Risk Group Task Force and the Children’s Oncology Group, translating laboratory findings into clinical trials for pediatric patients. She collaborates closely with other experts in her field to explore the epigenomic landscape of neuroblastoma and the development of epigenomic biomarkers in liquid biopsy. A mentor to many, she has guided undergraduate and medical students, residents, and junior faculty toward successful academic careers. In 2020, Dr. Cohn was appointed as the Inaugural Director of the Faculty Scholars Program in the Department of Pediatrics and serves as Director of Faculty Development at the University of Chicago’s Comprehensive Cancer Center.
