Dr. Susan Dynarski

Biography

Susan Dynarski is a professor at Harvard Graduate School of Education, specializing in education policy and economics. She has previously held positions at the University of Michigan, including the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and the Department of Economics. Dynarski co-directs the Education Policy Initiative at the Michigan Education Data Center and is a faculty research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. She holds an A.B. in social studies and a Master of Public Policy from Harvard, as well as a Ph.D. in economics from MIT. Dynarski is recognized for her significant contributions to research on education inequality, financial aid, charter schools, and their impact on academic achievement. She has served as a visiting fellow at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and Princeton University and has held leadership roles in several academic associations. In 2020, she was named a Carnegie fellow, and her research has garnered various awards, including the Spencer Foundation Award. Dynarski has testified before multiple U.S. Senate and House committees and has provided expert consultation to numerous government agencies and educational institutions.
