Biography

Susan D. Hughes is an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. With extensive experience in cardiovascular nursing, she has been an invited presenter at numerous national and local nursing and medical conferences, delivering approximately 450 presentations on various cardiovascular topics since 2000. Dr. Hughes is involved in teaching graduate-level courses including a workshop on 12-Lead Electrocardiography and lectures on Behavioral Interventions Exemplar. She is also an ACLS faculty member and has been actively teaching at Michigan Medicine since the late 1970s. Her professional affiliations include significant roles in committees of the American College of Cardiology and she has been recognized as a Fellow by both the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology. Her research interests include coronary artery disease, lipid disorders, hypertension management, behavior modification, and 12 lead ECG interpretation.
