Biography

Susan Leight is a Research Professor and Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice, Nurse Practitioner Options Programs at the Nese College of Nursing, Pennsylvania State University. With over 30 years of experience as a nurse educator and Family Nurse Practitioner, she has a special interest in women’s health and rural health promotion. Susan has worked extensively in health technology, including the development of a simulated breast model licensed to MammaCare Corporation. Prior to her tenure at Penn State, she served as director of the School of Nursing and graduate programs at West Virginia Wesleyan College. She holds a BSN from the State University of New York at Buffalo, an MSN, and an EdD from West Virginia University, along with a post-doctoral fellowship in Psycho-Social Oncology from the University of Pennsylvania. Susan is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of Nursing. She is actively involved in nursing education, serving as a manuscript reviewer and accreditation site visitor. Susan maintains an active practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner with an international humanitarian organization.
