Biography

Susan Little is an associate professor at University College London specializing in metal isotope geochemistry. Her research focuses on developing novel tracers for carbon cycling in the past and present oceans using isotopes of trace metals such as copper, zinc, cadmium, and nickel. These elements are essential in small amounts for life, while in higher concentrations they can be toxic. Her work aims to provide tools for tracing the fate of anthropogenic contaminants and reconstructing the co-evolution of oxygen and life on Earth. Susan has held various academic positions, including lecturer in Geochemistry and NERC Independent Research Fellow at University College London. She has a PhD from the University of Bristol and an MSci in Natural Sciences (Geological Sciences) from the University of Cambridge.
