Dr. Susan Rees

Biography

Professor Susan Rees is a full-time Professor of Psychiatry with a deep focus on mental health, particularly within conflict-affected populations and the impact of trauma. She has extensive experience in the management of mental health issues related to gender-based violence, planetary mental health, and military contexts, alongside suicide risk assessments. Her academic journey includes prestigious roles such as an ARC QE11 Research Fellow from 2009 to 2013. She represents the Faculty of Medicine within the Global Mental Health Course at Harvard Medical School and has secured significant funding throughout her career, totaling over $8 million for various research projects. Her methodological expertise encompasses longitudinal studies, intervention developments, and mixed-method qualitative research, with a keen focus on enhancing the effectiveness of mental health interventions through careful program evaluations.
