Biography

Susan Stern, MD, is the Founding Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Washington, also overseeing practices at Harborview Medical Center and UW Medical Center. An active researcher in resuscitation science, she focuses on evaluating novel therapeutic strategies in the early phases of traumatic injury and hemorrhagic shock. Dr. Stern earned her bachelor's degree from Tufts University and her M.D. from Case Western Reserve University. Prior to her role at the University of Washington, she spent 17 years on the faculty at the University of Michigan.
