Biography

Susan Whitney is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Carleton University in Canada. Her research primarily focuses on modern France, particularly the social, cultural, and political history of the 20th century, as well as global youth history and women’s gender history. Whitney holds a B.A. from Princeton University, where she graduated magna cum laude, an M.A. from Brown University, and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University. Whitney’s teaching includes courses on modern European history, youth history, and women's history. Whitney continues to engage in public lectures and interviews, contributing to discussions on the impact of war on children and youth.
