Biography

Ms. Wintermeyer-Pingel's nursing career has focused on providing care to patients and families coping with life-threatening hematologic and oncologic illnesses. She worked as a Gynecology Oncology Nurse Practitioner providing care to patients receiving chemotherapy and requiring symptom management. Certified as an Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, she has worked in inpatient and ambulatory care units at Michigan Medicine in adult bone marrow transplant, adult surgery, gynecology/oncology, and hematology/oncology areas, providing patient and family support services for cancer patients and their loved ones. Ms. Wintermeyer-Pingel developed and implemented bereavement support programs at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center, which provides grief support and resources to those facing loss due to cancer. Her teaching experience includes serving as a clinical instructor for junior nursing students, senior leadership students, and graduate nurse practitioner students at the University of Michigan. She has led educational initiatives for inpatient nursing staff, providing population-specific education and ongoing CEU-based education. Her presentations have focused on caring for hematology oncology patients and supporting nurses dealing with professional loss and compassion fatigue.
