Biography

Susana M. Morris is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the School of Literature, Media, Communication at Georgia Institute of Technology. With a Ph.D. in English from Emory University, she has previously taught at Spelman College and Auburn University. Morris focuses on Black Feminism, Black Digital Media, and Afrofuturism, exploring themes related to race, gender, and sexuality within speculative literature. She has authored the book 'Close Kin Distant Relatives: Paradox Respectability Black Women’s Literature' published by UVA Press in 2014, and co-edited notable anthologies such as 'Crunk Feminist Collection' and 'Sycorax’s Daughters'. Additionally, she serves as the series editor for 'New Suns: Race, Gender, Sexuality and Speculative' at Ohio State University Press. Currently, she is working on a book project that further investigates Black women’s relationships within the realms of Afrofuturism and feminism.
