Biography

Susana M. Morris is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She received her Ph.D. in English with a Certificate in Women's Studies from Emory University in 2007 and a B.A. in English, magna cum laude, from Mount Holyoke College in 2002. Morris is a scholar in Black Feminism, Black Digital Media, and Afrofuturism. She has previously taught at Spelman College and Auburn University. Her notable works include 'Close Kin, Distant Relatives: Paradox and Respectability in Black Women’s Literature' (UVA Press, 2014), and the co-edited anthologies 'Crunk Feminist Collection' (Feminist Press, 2017) and 'Sycorax’s Daughters' (Cedar Grove, 2017). Currently, she is working on a new book project that explores Black women’s relationships in Afrofuturism and feminism.
