Biography

Susanna Khavul is a Senior Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in the Department of Management and a research associate at the LSE Centre for Economic Performance. She has previously served as an associate professor at the Lucas School of Business at San José State University and has been faculty at the University of Texas at Arlington and the London Business School. Dr. Khavul's research is centered on entrepreneurial finance, crowdfunding, peer-to-peer alternative financial instruments, fintech innovations, financial inclusion, and mobile financial solutions in emerging and developed economies. She holds a distinguished teaching professor title from the University of Texas System and has received several awards for her research and teaching excellence, including the Academy of Management’s Entrepreneurship Division’s IDEA Award for Thought Leadership and the Heizer Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship Research. Dr. Khavul has a Doctorate in Strategy and Entrepreneurship from Boston University and a degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. She co-leads programs on Entrepreneurship and Innovation at LSE’s Executive Summer School and teaches a module on Technological Disruption and Entrepreneurship in San Francisco.
