Dr. Susannah Ahern

Biography

Professor Susannah Ahern is a prominent medical administrator and academic specializing in health services research management. Currently, she leads the Clinical Outcomes data Reporting Research Program at Monash University, overseeing various national clinical quality registries, including those for dementia, cystic fibrosis, and breast devices. Her research interests revolve around registry governance, the secondary use of clinical registry data, data reporting, benchmarking, and consumer engagement in registries. With over 60 peer-reviewed publications and numerous technical reports, Professor Ahern has made significant contributions to the field, influencing policy and practice through her work on developing national strategies for clinical registries. She has actively engaged with various stakeholders, including medical colleges, government bodies, and consumer groups, to enhance the usage and integration of clinical registry data. A regular invited speaker at national meetings, she effectively communicates her expertise in clinical registries and their role in health service governance. In addition to her research commitments, she has served as the Director of Monash Masters courses in Health Management, imparting knowledge in clinical leadership and digital health management.
