Biography

Susannah Tahk researches and teaches in areas of tax law and poverty law. Her articles have appeared in various respected journals including the Tax Law Review, the Tax Lawyer, the Columbia Journal of Tax Law, the Iowa Law Review, the Wisconsin Law Review, the Arizona Law Review, the Fordham Law Review, the Harvard Journal on Legislation, and the Pittsburgh Tax Review. From 2016 to 2025, she served as associate dean for research and faculty development, focusing on growing and diversifying the Law School faculty, increasing research productivity and visibility, and strengthening faculty governance mechanisms to sustain a vibrant and inclusive intellectual community. During this period, she directed the Law School's Institute of Legal Studies. For the 2023-2024 academic year, she is a fellow in the Big Ten Academic Alliance's Academic Alliance and currently serves on the University's Academic Planning Council. She is also training to work as a mitigation specialist in criminal cases. In 2020, she received the Vilas Mid-Career Investigator Award from UW-Madison, and in 2015, she received the Vilas Early Career Investigator Award. She was named a Coming Lawyer by the Wisconsin Law Journal in 2017 and won the Pro Bono Award from the Association for Women Lawyers in Wisconsin.
